What’s so FUNNY?
As a Comedy Actress (???) my question on this sunny (at least in L.A.) #findthefunnyMonday is:
What is funny?
According to the Free Dictionary online:
Funny [ˈfʌnɪ]
adj -nier, -niest
1. causing amusement or laughter; humorous; comical
2. peculiar; odd
3. suspicious or dubious (esp in the phrase funny business)
4. Informal faint or ill to feel funny
But when you think about it, there are so many kinds of “funny” and what’s funny to one person might not be funny to someone else. Obvi. When I’m auditioning for a comedy, if a CD reports back: “She wasn’t funny” is because I’m not funny or the material isn’t funny or the person watching the tape doesn’t get the writer’s idea of funny? A conundrum, that’s for sure.

Has Texting Replaced Talking?
Today’s #findthefunnymonday question asks — What’s the deal with GUYS and TEXTING?
It seems like constant texting gives guys the sense that they’re with us, without actually having to put in the time. Anyone else noticing this? OMG! I’m sure “Texting” was invented by a GUY. Right?
Texting = Communicating?
Do we truly connect when we text? Depends. Getting to say what you want to say in as few words as possible and then being done with it is a Guy’s DREAM. Obvi. But Women need more. Much more.
If you Google “texting” you get all kinds of advice from “Flirty Text” to “Dirty Text.” I might just have to try out this flirt-fave I just found online —

Love is…
LOVE ––
It’s a word people use very loosely. (I say it all the time.) It’s a feeling that’s actually impossible to describe. It’s something we think we understand until we meet someone we feel even more powerful about.
It may mean something different to each and every person – we have no way of knowing.
There’s no way to measure it or see it. We just FEEL it. And we all WANT it. Read the rest of this entry »
Find the Funny Monday: Managing Expectations
Sometimes when you’ve got it in your head that something’s gonna happen, you can end up being easily disappointed. That happens to me. I think it happens to a lot of people. You kind’a set yourself up because you haven’t done the work or in some cases clued the other person in. Sadly most people aren’t mind-readers, and that goes double or even triple for Guys. FIND THE FUNNY: Taking Things Back

Do you ever switch radio stations in your car, only to hear the end of an awesome song and wish for Radio Tivo? (I do.)
How about – after you’ve had a heart-palpitating moment with your BIG CRUSH and you want to dissect it in your mind? Do you wish there could be Romance Tivo? (Oh, man! I’d watch that one over and over and over…) Read the rest of this entry »
Braving TV’s Pilot Season
Yesterday my acting partner, Nick sent me a link to an article Ken Levine wrote during TV Pilot Season last year. It’s fun to read whether you’re in the TV business, trying to be in the TV business or just watch TV.
I texted back —
So funny! Love it for my blog.
Nick’s comeback —
FUNNY?! It made me cry!
I mean, Nick’s technically right. It’s ultra-depressing that one of the prerequisites of a Hot Girl role is that the producers look for someone “guys wanna f#@k.” And trust me, this is absolutely true. A major TV producer told me that point blank! Read the rest of this entry »
Healing Each Other in the Hospital
Last night before I went to my ER shift I knew I needed to come up with an idea for my #findthefunny Monday post and within the first half hour of getting there, a Cute Guy wheeled his Great Granny into Triage. She was smiling and all dressed up in an ivory Chanel-ish jacket and matching knit cap, so I told her how cute she looked and showed her to the Triage Window.
Then a scared|crying Little Boy and his Mommy arrived — Read the rest of this entry »
