30 Absolutely Awesome Remixes

remixing my life
I’m all about a good remix these day, aren’t you? As we all face another challenging week (for me it’s about finding the funny with scary CD’s, ER horror stories, looking for love, and mixed messages), let’s get in the rhythm with —

Finding our Way (with a little help from our friends)
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDOCY52H8VE
Ive noticed that I spend a lot of my volunteer shift just helping people who are lost find their way out of the hospital.
Our ER is in the East Tower but on Sunday nights theres only one Information Desk open and its in the West Tower, so the hospital tries to get everyone whos entering and leaving the hospital to do it in the west. So in the east, they dim the lights and block the exits, but all that means is — people are walking around totally disoriented in the dark. (OMG! I so know how they feel.) Healing Each Other in the Hospital
Last night before I went to my ER shift I knew I needed to come up with an idea for my #findthefunny Monday post and within the first half hour of getting there, a Cute Guy wheeled his Great Granny into Triage. She was smiling and all dressed up in an ivory Chanel-ish jacket and matching knit cap, so I told her how cute she looked and showed her to the Triage Window.
Then a scared|crying Little Boy and his Mommy arrived — Read the rest of this entry »
Courage: The Heroes who have it

you can
As my parents’ anniversary approaches, I’m reminded of my brave Mom during what seems like forever ago. It’s a subject I’m not great about discussing, so I won’t right now. But it does make me think about COURAGE and how we don’t really know if we have it until we need it (no matter how well we think we know ourselves).
The Heroes Among Us —
This week three courageous heroes came into my consciousness.
In the L.A. Times this week I read an inspirational article about Iron Man competitor Clayton Treska who is battling Read the rest of this entry »
LAUGHTER = Instant Gratification

feel-good sounds
I was reminded the other day when I was tweeting @MikeCapozzi that the reason I love doing COMEDY is because I know if it’s working or not. No need to wait for feedback from the Casting Director. It becomes obvious. Like immediately.
Because in Comedy Auditions, you either get the laugh or you don’t. Even if the CD and producers have heard the line a million times before, if you deliver it right, they can’t hold the laugh in. And, the good thing about knowing is — if it’s not working — you can sometimes make quick adjustments and pull it out in time. Read the rest of this entry »
Urgent Care in the ER

anatomy lessons
I couldn’t write about this till now, because it freaked me out so much when it happened. Even now I think about it every time I sit down to eat.
It starts out like a typical ER Saturday Afternoon Shift
- nightmare waiting room
- all beds are filled
- labs are piling up
In Trauma, Bed 8, this pretty New York Model (you know I can’t say who) is really having a tough time of it. She’s been there for 14 hours with what she thinks is Acid Reflux (because she can’t keep anything down, not even a sip of water). She’s all nervous, because she’s got a wardrobe fitting scheduled in a few hours for a huge commercial, due to shoot Monday. Read the rest of this entry »
Feeling Safe: Knowns vs Unknowns
Why do we feel safe with KNOWNS when there’s often greater possibility with UNKNOWNS?
“Conundrumly-speaking,” why is it human nature to–
distrust CHANGE?
Working in the ER is a little like working in Washington – Read the rest of this entry »
