True Love = Happily Ever After

You know how you always think about finding “The ONE?”

Feeling Connected

Feeling Connected

Searching for a Soulmate is a universal quest. Some people find theirs, while others aren’t so lucky. I really hope I’ll be in the first category, but of course – there are no guarantees.

Attraction’s a weird thing. Definitely chemical. Sometimes we try to feel attracted to someone because he (or she) has– Read the rest of this entry »

Sunflowers = Mom

Especially today. Her birthday. Every two days after Christmas we would always rally. It was a way of making the holiday celebration period even longer. More joy — when Mom was around.

I can't get enough

Comfort Food

She would have been 50 today, a birthday milestone. And whether it’s a big birthday or not, I always imagine the memories we would’ve packed in — if she were still around. One of my best is our flower planting contest. Read the rest of this entry »

Manners – Are They Extinct?

LA breeds bad manners

LA breeds bad manners

For quite a while I have been thinking that guys my age (and even ten years older) are generally pretty clueless about manners. My dad thinks it has to do with Gloria Steinem and the  women’s lib movement confusing guys. Since he was raised Old School (the good way), Dad still — Read the rest of this entry »

Wrecked (almost a Hollywood ending)

So my head feels like it’s bursting with too much to think about. Worries snowball into an icy boulder of brain cells pretty much 24/7 as I’m constantly wondering when my next job will happen.

I’m a wreck worried about this stuff. The only paychecks I get right now are from a CSI guest role last year and thankfully CSI plays non-stop on cable and airlines pretty much anytime/anywhere, so those residuals come in quarterly at least. Did I mention I was driving while calculating? Read the rest of this entry »

Volunteering for the Unexpected

Isn’t it weird how when you’re trying really hard to do something it doesn’t work and then when you stop thinking about it, you do your best?

I’d been dreading last Saturday’s shift (as you know) because it was on an important night for me — Halloween. Plus I really hadn’t gotten the hang of the Volunteer thing.  But strangely, Halloween in the ER became more important to me than I thought, but not in a way I would’ve expected. Halloween? I Dress up for a Living

Ever since I was a little girl, Halloween was my very favorite holiday. At least, it’s my favorite holiday in October.

Of course you have your fairies and your princesses, but somewhere around 3rd grade (gee I wonder why…)  I outgrew all those juvenile concepts. I decided I’d wear something more original, more me.

Dad loved this movie so I did too

Dad had just became my Mom too and since architects tend to inspire creative thinking in general (and he was a little into overcompensating), we started picking out my Halloween ensembles at Read the rest of this entry »

Favorite Traditions

Just when I start to think true love doesn’t exist, October 14th rolls around to remind me that it does.

I love celebrating my parents’ anniversary.

You might think it’s a little weird that Dad and I do this alone, but Mom’s always with us anyway. Even though I was little when she died, I have so many amazing memories of her through him. Read the rest of this entry »
