Find The Funny: AUDITION WOES

I can’t believe Find The Funny Monday has rolled back around yet again. Pressure! I’m starting to realize that #findthefunny stories often relate back to my–

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENTS. Ugh!

Awhile back, I was up for a cable series in a really great role, that I was exactly right for. Well —  exactly right, with the exception of two small details. Mine were “too” small. What they wanted were two bigger and curvier details like Anne Hathaway has in “LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS.”

The initial audition went GREAT. The super supportive CD called  my agent Josh right away, saying the producers wanted to see me —

Mom’s Thanksgiving Sweet Potatoes

Delicious Memories

Delicious Memories

Now that I’ve almost recovered from my Whole Foods fiasco with Owen, I’m getting in the Thanksgiving-cooking-mood. I still can’t bring myself to make a Turkey, because there’s just too much yucky gut-removal for me, but I can totally get into making the accompaniments.

When I was little I loved making Thanksgiving Sweet Potatoes with my mom.  She’d call from the kitchen —

Find The Funny: OOPS!

a little wrinkle

a little wrinkle

Yes it’s Find The Funny Monday again—

This week’s #findthefunny moment happens at Whole Foods. I’m picking up ingredients for my Mom’s Sweet Potatoes with my little pal Owen (my neighbor Sara’s got family business to take care of and since my acting career’s on a break, I’m happy to hang with a five year-old.)

Sara’s Nana (Owen’s Grand Nana) died about a month ago (from Alzheimer’s that she had like, forever) and ever since then, Owen has been kind of obsessed with death and aging. Not in a scary way. More in an “Owenish” curious way. Since Sara told him that when people get really really really old they die, Owen has been extremely focused on exactly how old everyone is and how many wrinkles he or she has. FIND THE FUNNY MONDAYS —

It’s a weekly post about finding the funny in something that might not otherwise be… funny.

About a month ago I started dating a guy (“G”). Not exactly my type, but potentially-interesting.  When I mentioned “G” to my dad, he was so happy that — Read the rest of this entry »

Carving a Pumpkin is a lot like ACTING

I’ve always been TOTALLY into

H a l l o w e e n | C o s t u m e s

Ever since I was “Bee” at three. But, I never realized until this year, just how much ACTING and HALLOWEEN have a lot in common.

I was enlightened by a pumpkin.

And it’s not just because they both involve costumes and getting sick to your stomach. Ahaha. Read the rest of this entry »

Actors: Living the Dream

good-byes are hard

good-byes are hard

So my Twitter bud and fellow Actor @MikeCapozzi forwarded me devastating news about the demise of my favorite website Killthedoor.com.

You may remember that I did an entire post on how fabulous this Actor-friendly site “is” or now I should say “was”. It was like an inside source with casting news, inside info, great advice and resources for Actors yada yada. Apparently it was a little too inside and became a conflict of interests. Boo hoo!

So since, Killthedoor.com and @killthedoor have been ahem, “killed”, I’ve decided to share this little vid with everyone, to watch in absence of a memorial service (you can wear black when you watch it, if you want.) Read the rest of this entry »

The Power of HOPE

GNN_0709

the magic of believing

I was feeling a little blue this week until suddenly, after sixty-nine days underground, a super rad space-looking capsule lifted 33 smiling miners out of the ground, reminding me and the entire world that —

HOPE IS ALL AROUND US!

Hope empowers us. It makes the impossible possible and at the very least it gets us through the days we’re afraid we can’t get through. And, just in case we aren’t “feeling it,” there are so many signs. Read the rest of this entry »
