A Girl’s Essentials (part 2, skincare)

A priority in the Evie Stewart Lifelong Quest for the Perfect Beauty Products is maintaining a camera-ready complexion. This is a never-ending challenge to put it mildly,  particularly at certain times of the month, ugh!

Manners – Are They Extinct?

LA breeds bad manners

LA breeds bad manners

For quite a while I have been thinking that guys my age (and even ten years older) are generally pretty clueless about manners. My dad thinks it has to do with Gloria Steinem and the  women’s lib movement confusing guys. Since he was raised Old School (the good way), Dad still — Read the rest of this entry »

Wrecked (almost a Hollywood ending)

So my head feels like it’s bursting with too much to think about. Worries snowball into an icy boulder of brain cells pretty much 24/7 as I’m constantly wondering when my next job will happen.

I’m a wreck worried about this stuff. The only paychecks I get right now are from a CSI guest role last year and thankfully CSI plays non-stop on cable and airlines pretty much anytime/anywhere, so those residuals come in quarterly at least. Still, they don’t add up to enough and when I was doing calculations in my head of how I was going to pay for my gym renewal, a guy in a Jeep backed out of a driveway on Crescent Heights right into my Beemer! Did I mention I was driving while calculating? Read the rest of this entry »

Silent Running*

The Ocean is one of the best things about living in L.A.
And bright, clear, warm Fall days is one of the other best things about living in L.A.

I run at the ocean from time to time. I drive all the way to the stairs at Ocean Avenue and walk down to the bike path; from there I just go north. North is prettier than south (as far as I’m concerned).

I do love the Ferris wheel…

…but the Santa Monica Pier just gets a little chaotic for me.

NOT the funny thought of the day

BUMMER.

Beemer got a boo-boo and I’m bugged.

SO my whole day gets rearranged for a bumper bust-up. Ugh.

(No wonder… it’s Friday the 13th. Double ugh!)

Halloween? I Dress up for a Living

Ever since I was a little girl, Halloween was my very favorite holiday. At least, it’s my favorite holiday in October.

Of course you have your fairies and your princesses, but somewhere around 3rd grade (gee I wonder why…)  I outgrew all those juvenile concepts. I decided I’d wear something more original, more me.

Dad had just became my Mom too and since architects tend to inspire creative thinking in general (and he was a little into overcompensating), we started picking out my Halloween ensembles at Read the rest of this entry »

Working it Out

I went back to boxing recently. My teacher Lloyd is one of three identical triplets: Lloyd, Floyd and Troy.

Yep. their parents had a sense of humor.

I’ve known Lloyd for three years, but I took about two years off, with every intention of going back…honest… It just took longer than expected because I had no time, I was working, which is a great reason to not get to boxing class. I could use a few more reasons like that — I swear, if I were too busy with work to make class, I’d pay for class anyway…

NOT the real thing (campy movie though!)

NOT the real thing (campy movie though!)

So now I’m back, all thinking time flies,
this is just like I remember it, no biggie,
I had my moves (and a LOT more shit to be punching at, right?)

But the first class back, I overdid it just a tad. Read the rest of this entry »
