A Girl’s Essentials (part 3, professional beauty systems)
Continuing the Evie Stewart Lifelong Quest to look professional (and as good as possible) each and every time I have an audition, a meeting, or just show up for a temp job — here are two beauty must-haves that I can’t seem to live without.
In A Girl’s Essentials (part 2, skincare) I touched on the importance of keeping skin looking as young and fresh and unlined as possible. We can’t all afford to have as many facials as we’d like (at least I can’t) so a great alternative to spending time and money in a spa is the —
CLARISONIC CLEANSING SYSTEM
Recommended by dermatologists, this handy cleaning tool uses sonic frequency to–
…gently emove 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone.
Clarisonic leaves skin feeling smoother as it removes impurities that keep creams and serums from doing their thing. It reduces oily areas, dry skin patches and break-outs and it’s gentle enough to use twice a day.
I bought mine at Ole Henriksen on Sunset, but you can find it by googling Clarisonic or just go to Amazon for the Clarisonic Pro @$189.00.
The other Beauty System I’m completely in love love love with is the —
TEMPTU AIRBRUSH MAKE-UP SYSTEM
According to Sephora (where I bought mine for $280, WITH make-up), Temptu–
… is the brains (and beauty) behind most of the A-list work you see – the picture-perfect faces on the silver screen, the immaculate high-fashion shots…
(their words, not mine) – but seriously IT’S AMAZING! And I’m still learning how to use it to my ultimate advantage.
Become your own Make-up Artist —
You buy these little make-up pods and snap them in (after shaking them up) and it’s super simple and fast and it leaves you feeling like you just had your make-up professionally done. Seriously!
So if you want to be camera-ready for an audition, look professional for a job interview or decide to WOW that cute guy you have a movie date with next Saturday night, I urge you to check out these beauty systems ASAP! You’ll be glad you did!
My endorsements are totally UNPAID, btw (promise!)
I understand what you mean, working in marketing usually gives you a different view on the world, so I’m always critical about anything the media shows. And as the acting world is all about image and marketing people, I imagine there’s a big difference between what we see and the industry really is. But I am sure you’ll make it, you seem like someone whose got enough personality to handle it 😉
And as for the oils, I think you’ll have a better chance to find them in shops that sell natural beauty products or online (just make sure they’re the purest possible). Also, you should find many natural home made mask “recipes” online.
😉
Am about to run out to be coached for an audition, but thanks SO much for the words of encouragement. Later I’ll go online and checkout the oils. Can’t wait to try them. Thanks!
I’m loving your blog lady, even though it wasn’t your idea, you’re keeping it very interesting and entertaining 🙂
I always wondered if I could make it as an actor (oh yeah, I know, everyone says that – but I mean it – they say it too? – oh well…) and just never had the guts to give it a shot.
So, your blog is just about to become a guilty pleasure 😉
As for beauty finds, I never really thought of using beauty units, but must admit I am quite tempted by the clarisonic cleansing system now… And 2 essentials to me would be argan oil and nigella oils, they are great, you can use them on hair and skin, pure or in a mask preparation. They make wonders!
Are argan oil and nigella oils sold at health food stores? If I can find them, I’ll definitely give them a try. Thanks for the sweet words about the blog. As far as becoming an actor, trust me — it’s not as glamorous as you think. One day you can feel like a huge success and the next a wannabe (ugh ugh ugh!)
Luv your comments! Keep ’em coming.
