CLICKING
My week ended positively Friday, with an excellent meet-and-greet on the lot. Excellent because we just CLICKED.
I didn’t try too hard, or second-guess myself while I was talking. It came out naturally. He had fascinating stories that built on what I’d just said (yes, he actually listened.) It felt like we were old friends meeting for coffee at Starbucks — or playing a really fun game of ping-pong that I never wanted to end. (Plus I bonded with his hilarious Assistant Kristen.)
The thing is, you can’t plan on clicking with someone. Can you? Read the rest of this entry »

Communication Gap
Just got home from an exhausting Sunday eve in the E.R. and before I watch “Entourage” I need to vent about the CHALLENGES OF COMMUNICATION, specifically about – –
Being HEARD!
It’s the 5:00 to 9:00 shift and I land in the waiting room from hell! Anthony Chan is being particularly pissy. Multi-tasking, he takes vitals of a SOB (in E.R. speak that’s “shortness of breath” guys) and answers the phone abruptly but he keeps getting interrupted by this 60ish man who looks like he’s about to blow a gut. The gut blower demands that Anthony listen to him NOW. Anthony snaps condescendingly — Read the rest of this entry »

What’s so FUNNY?
As a Comedy Actress (???) my question on this sunny (at least in L.A.) #findthefunnyMonday is:
What is funny?
According to the Free Dictionary online:
Funny [ˈfʌnɪ]
adj -nier, -niest
1. causing amusement or laughter; humorous; comical
2. peculiar; odd
3. suspicious or dubious (esp in the phrase funny business)
4. Informal faint or ill to feel funny
But when you think about it, there are so many kinds of “funny” and what’s funny to one person might not be funny to someone else. Obvi. When I’m auditioning for a comedy, if a CD reports back: “She wasn’t funny” is because I’m not funny or the material isn’t funny or the person watching the tape doesn’t get the writer’s idea of funny? A conundrum, that’s for sure.
I can see FUNNY in — Read the rest of this entry »
Romance = Unexpected Connections
An unexpected connection is the best kind of all. Especially when it’s an unexpected connection with someone you’ve wanted to connect with, but wondered if you ever would. An ordinary night becomes extraordinary. A smile means oh so much more. And you realize when you’re following through with something you need to do, (sometimes) your own needs are surprisingly fulfilled too. Uh huh uh huh.
Don’t want to get into details ‘cuz like with an audition if you talk too much about it before it’s really a sure thing, it can go… POOF! Read the rest of this entry »
Life: not according to plan
Life —
- It doesn’t go in a straight line
- It’s not according to plan (not mine anyway)
- When you think something’s gonna happen it doesn’t
- And when you least expect it to, it does
Life disappoints, surprises & warms our hearts.
It’s about —
- brushing off the bad
- laughing at the irony and
- cherishing the moments Read the rest of this entry »
