Los Angeles: Endless Summer

Being an actor in L.A. changes your take on seasons.  (Yes, we have seasons.) And heat waves in September messes with your head as much as your closet. Like my worst nightmare, summer ends, but it’s still going on.

It seems like just the other day my hair colorist was asking me what my “summer plans” were. I also vaguely remember having that conversation with every person I came into contact with for the next few weeks– baristas at Starbucks aka my extended family, the woman who dyes my eyelashes blacker, my old trainer at the gym… they all wanted to know what big summer plans I had in store. At the time, not only did I have a big summer lined up, but I brushed it off and said “oh is it summer? I didn’t even realize…”

why does writing about summer basically sound like I'm going to commit suicide?

Where’d it go?

Now I’m having very similar conversations everywhere, except it’s “how was your summer?” Well the answer to that is “I don’t celebrate summer anymore.” My life is such a Read the rest of this entry »

Audition Recession ~or~ Top 10 Distractions

So things have been pretty slow lately. Few auditions. Even fewer that are actually projects I’d want to be part of. I spent the last few days agonizing over a script someone at my agency sent me that I thought was quite possibly one of the worst scripts I’d ever read. Here’s a picture of it:

The idea of going to Arizona to shoot this movie… Well, let’s just say there were tears shed. And more tears, and then a massive headache. And ultimately once I encouraged (begged) Josh to actually read the script, he agreed that the whole thing was stupid and it went straight into the trash.

Things I can turn to for distraction from these trivial problems that haunt my every waking minute.

Here’s my top ten small things that bring me great pleasure when I need a break from my madness… Read the rest of this entry »

Wireimage = Instant Gratification

It’s like getting your prom pictures on the same night only better. With Wireimage, everyone gets to see your pictures too!  (Or maybe that’s only a good thing if the shots are flattering, because I don’t think they let you delete them. Right?)

Whatev. Right now I’m feeling positive.  It’s ALL good.

So tonight I go to this cool private party Josh said to go alone to (but a shout-out to JA for getting Will on the list). Thank god because I hate to go to parties alone and Read the rest of this entry »

Feel-good movie of the year?

I’m getting used to how co-starring in this movie is changing my life and —

I cannot believe how cool it is to be…

recognized on the street

asked for my autograph

taken to the best stores by my very own stylist (she does Megan, too)

interviewed by some of my favorite magazines

invited to amazing parties

able to write off basically everything

and get…

free memberships at any gym or spa I want

consults with the most expensive hair stars (I’ll never leave Niles though)

the special table at Katsuya and Craft and nine-thirty and —

goodie baskets from all the studio heads  — even if I don’t know who they are (yet.)

if you INSIST I shop on Rodeo Drive, okay!

Basically I get sucked up to like I was Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Good Times.
