Inhaling a bunch of BS

Hospital Employees say the craziest things when they think no one’s listening –  in the Halls, in the Elevators, on the Stairs, in the Restrooms, in the Parking Lot — need I go on?

The thing is –

In the Hospital EVERYONE’s Listening!

Can’t use names of course (Hospital Policy) — but there’s no law against using initials. So here’s the first post (of MANY, I’m sure) called: “Doctors Say The Dummest Things.”

Smug Surgeon, Dr. D – (D stands for more than just his name)

Today I drive into the ER Parking Lot, and recognize Dr. D, a good-looking (although he has put on some weight), arrogant A-hole who I (unfortunately) dated before he became God.

Dr. D’s leaning against the wall, entertaining himself by blowing smoke rings (in a Smoke-Free Hospital btw) when he goes: “Well if it isn’t!” (I wish it wasn’t!)  After a couple of “Hi-how’ve-you-been”s (not really caring about the answer) I casually mention my surprise that he’s SMOKING, since he’s now a SURGEON.

He smiles condescendingly –

Oh, it doesn’t matter because now we can cure Cancer!

(Oh really? Tell my Mom)

I couldn’t get out of that Parking Lot fast enough. Talk about blowing smoke…

Obama practices!

I can’t let this day go by without acknowledging the awesomeness of President Obama. I remember the before-the-election- naysayers warning us that his “style” of dealing with the world wouldn’t be strong enough and —  man, did he prove them wrong!

A day we’ll never forget…

No one was untouched by September 11^th. Though I lost my innocence and gained a number of fears, I can’t even begin to comprehend the depth of loss the families felt who never again saw their loved ones after that that day, or the tremendous sacrifice the servicemen and women and their families have extended in order to protect our freedom.

As last night’s news unfolded carefully, methodically respectfully and President Obama spoke without grandstanding, but with tremendous strength and dignity, I felt something I haven’t felt for a long time — pride in the way our President represents our nation.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

Thanks President Obama for being who you are —  and saying it just right!

An unexpected connection is the best kind of all. Especially when it’s an unexpected connection with someone you’ve wanted to connect with, but wondered if you ever would. An ordinary night becomes extraordinary. A smile means oh so much more. And you realize when you’re following through with something you need to do, (sometimes) your own needs are surprisingly fulfilled too. Uh huh uh huh.

Don’t want to get into details ‘cuz like with an audition if you talk too much about it before it’s really a sure thing, it can go…  POOF!

Krispy Kremes, Dreams and Schemes

Maybe he saw me in a new way the other night. Maybe it’s a combination of all those Krispy Cremes I’ve been taking to the hospital staff lately, PLUS my nightly candle wishes, PLUS trying to be in the right place at the right time.

All I know is, yesterday I was sleeping and I woke up to a DREAM:

• an unexpected beach run
• the start of a beautiful day
• And a big smile on my face (Oh yeah!)

The Actor’s Goal in EVERY Audition is to get a

CALLBACK.

It’s the green light that means,
(As Sally Field said in her Oscar speech) –

“You like me, You really really like me!”

Like any job interview where they ask you back for MORE,

It’s INSTANT GRATIFICATION!

Getting a CALLBACK is like –

Fitting into your favorite skinny jeans.

Getting an A on a final exam.

A freshly painted manicure.

Finding an awesome deal on eBay.

Getting the last piece of coffee cake at Starbucks.

Finding a piece of jewelry you thought you’d lost forever.

Finishing a five mile run.

A glass of champagne.

The smell of a new car.

Finding a 100 dollar bill in the street.

The smell of freshly baked cookies.

Flirting your way out of a speeding ticket.

Getting asked out on a date by your crush.

Hearing your favorite song on the radio.

Seeing a picture of yourself where you really look good.

The first sip of a milkshake.

Finishing a really good book.

Getting a refund check from the IRS.

“Cheers”-ing your friends at midnight of New Year’s Eve.

Finding yourself (the BEST part)!

Blogging.

Blugh.

The first problem I have is just the word blog itself. Does that word really encourage people to want to write? To be creative? To share? Blog blog blog. The more you say it, the more you hate it. Sounds like it should be the name of like a dirty pond or a growth on your foot. But regardless, Josh says blog, so here I go… blogging.  (Doesn’t the word make you want some mouthwash?)

Perhaps it’s not the word that upsets me, but more the idea of actually intentionally sharing my thoughts with someone, be it a stranger or someone I actually know. I mean, at this point in my life…

Sorry, I lost my train of thought when I looked down at my mom’s Cartier LOVE bracelet and saw a scratch that looked like the side of a car after someone keyed it. I just finished doing the dishes and I gasped thinking that I might have scraped it across the sink in my rare moment of productivity.
