Civil Unrest, Women’s Rights, and Environmental Concerns ROCK ON

dust, dope and delirious fans!

Wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Desert Trip (“Oldchella”) with the average age of performers teetering on 72, ahaha. I wondered if it’d feel like an oldie-but-goodie weekend where you feel kind of depressed watching wrinkled, balding performers go down memory lane, weakly. But it wasn’t like that – not at all! I didn’t get to stay for Roger Waters because I had to be at my part-time job Monday morning with Dr Frankenstein, but for me the big three were —

Mick Jagger, Neil Young and Paul McCartney

Who knows if it’s drugs or vitamins, but whatever they’re taking it’s working!  No wonder Mick Jagger, at 73, is about to become a dad again. He’s still got the moves!  McCartney and Young were clearly in the zone as they jammed on Beatle classics and a John Lennon Anthem! Yep, it was ROCK AND ROLL MAGIC at it’s very best! We (all 70,000 of us) felt lucky to be a part of it!

McCartney and Young jammin'

McCartney and Young playing their hearts out!

The more things change, the more they stay the same —

Missing TUSCANY from A to Z

My body is in L.A. but my heart and soul (and the last of my euros) are stuck in Tuscany.

It’s impossible to “A to Z” all of the amazing memories. They simply can’t all fit into this post.

Arrivederci Tuscany — sigh…

Remembering: Restaurants, Romance, SPAIN 2014

sweet memories

sweet memories

Still feeling jet-lagged and a little devastated after my tearful adiós (well actually adjö) to my summer fling,  Jorgen. Yep, my gorgeous Swedish Architect was just what I needed to temporarily block out unrealistic thoughts of closed-off Dr. Crush, memories of ER screamy-meamies with yucky bodily fluids, and the drought of summer auditions, ugh.

Jorgen taught me about art at Madrid’s Reina Sofia Museum, 70’s architecture and hippie style in Ibiza, and toured me through the Gaudi Cathedral and Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.

Sipping Spanish wines in between sweet kisses, we dined by candlelight under a gazillion stars in Ibiza, and ran barefoot through the sand under the moonlight (ahhhh…)  And though my stomach had a few issues (I’ll spare you the details) the Spanish food was ultra-fresh in that European way, beautifully assembled and muy delicioso.

First stop, MADRID —

Bar Tomate – Open from 8:30 am till midnight (2 am Thursday, Friday and Saturday) is casual hip and hopping, serving maybe the yummiest tapas I had the entire trip. Maybe my senses were intoxicated because Bar Tomate was where Jorgen and I met (on my first night in Spain.) Then… every night that followed was absolutely dreamy… yes, DREAMY! Shop – Eat: LONDON & PARIS

Colette Cool

Flew home yesterday on Virgin Atlantic, my new favorite airlines. As I pulled out my copy of Fifty Shades Darker (part 2 of the 3-part rage Fifty Shades of Grey), three Flight Attendants suddenly became my new best friends–

All the ladies are reading it!

I can’t put it down!

I’m fifty shades of red!

It was a fun way to end a fun trip…

Loved London and Paris, even though it was necessary to carry an umbrella at all times. I lucked out on the weather though — it really didn’t rain that much – more like twenty-minute showers. So it was easy to get around and and make lots of new discoveries. For me traveling involves walking-walking-walking. It’s the best way to see everything and get a sense of what’s where. I always lose weight on trips, no matter how good the food is (and in France it IS!).

My favorite time to walk is in the early morning hours when a city is just walking up. Read the rest of this entry »

Italy: Searching for Restaurants, Great Finds and George Clooney

protection from the paparazzi

Finding the Funny in Italy —

In the short time I’ve been in Lake Como,

I…

  • couldn’t get the car in reverse and had to be pushed
  • encountered a bus and lost my side mirror
  • boarded the wrong train, twice
  • went to the wrong restaurant and unknowingly took someone’s reservation
  • got a rope stuck in a boat motor and got stuck with a big charge

Good Times!  (but it’s what memories are made of, right?) Meanwhile, I’ve also made some — Read the rest of this entry »
